Someone once analyzed that these four continents are not existing places, but places that we cannot see and touch, and they first came out of Buddhism. Later, Wu Chengen, the author of Journey to the West, used this statement.
The Four Continents of Buddhism is a paraphrase of Sanskrit, abbreviated as "Four Continents". According to the Ahama Sutra, there are four worlds on earth, that is, four continents. One is Dongsheng Shenzhou, the second is Nanzhan Buzhou, the third is Xiniuhe Zhou, and the fourth is Beiju Luzhou. In the Aral Sea on all sides of Mount Meru.
The four continents are the places where the humane beings in the Ten Dharma Realms live, located in the four directions of Mount Meru, in the Aral Sea between the Seven Golden Mountains and the Great Iron Fence Mountains, there are four continents, called the four major continents, the four continents, the four heavens, and the four continents of Sumeru.
Dongsheng Shenzhou (东毘提诃).
Located in the Aral Sea to the east of Mount Meru, the island is famous for its special human beings. Volume 18 of the "Chang A Han Sutra" says: "There is a world in the east of Sumeru, and the name is in the catch, and its soil is round, and it is nine thousand years wide; The human face is also round, like the terrain of the other side.
There are three things special about this continent: the land is very large, it is very great, and it is wonderful.
Nanbu Continent (Nanyan Futi).
The South Ganbu Continent is located in the south of Mount Meru, and this continent is rich in Yanfu trees, and also produces Yanfu sandalwood. The terrain is like a car box, and so are the faces of people. The people of this continent are brave and strong enough to create karma, practice Buddhism, and have Buddhas born in their lands, so the three things are better than the other three continents and the heavens.
West Niu Hezhou (西翿 Yeni).
Xiniu Hezhou is located in the west of Mount Meru, and is traded with cattle, sheep, and manibao as currency. Its terrain is like a full moon, and the human face is also like a full moon, and there are three special things in this continent, namely: many cows, many sheep, and many pearls and jades.
Beiju Luzhou (Beiyu Shan Yue).
Beiju Luzhou is located in the Aral Sea in the north of Mount Meru, the continent is square, each side is 2,000 years long, the shape is like a box lid, surrounded by the Seven Gold Mountain and the Great Iron Fence Mountain, ** is the ground, day and night are always bright. The land has the four virtues of equality, silence, purity, and thornlessness. The people of this continent have a square face, and the terrain of this continent is the same, and everyone has the same complexion, and their height is one foot and four feet.
Life is equal and happy, without worries.

Wu Chengen, the author of Journey to the West, lived in the middle of the Ming Dynasty, and you can find it by referring to the names of places in the Ming Dynasty and the present. However, **Journey to the West is an excellent god and demon written by the author**, and it is also a masterpiece with a grand scale, complete structure, and a fantasy form to reflect social contradictions, and some of the place names in it may be mostly made up.
