History of the school. The School of Computer Science and Engineering of South China University of Technology, formerly known as the computer research work of South China Institute of Technology in 1958, is one of the earliest units engaged in computer research and teaching in China's colleges and universities. In 2001, the School of Computer Science and Engineering was established with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the Information Network Engineering Research Center, and the Computing Center as the main body. In 2018, the IEEE Guangzhou Chapter was established in the School of Computer Science and Engineering.

Construction results. In recent years, the college has successively undertaken scientific research projects such as the National Key R&D Program, the National Natural Science Key Project, and the Joint Project, and published 5 SCI high-level articles per capita per year.

In terms of experiments, the computing center is a public experimental platform for the whole school, which is open for 14 hours a day from 7:30 to 21:30, for our students to practice on the computer, curriculum design, graduation project or student interest group science and technology activities and other teaching experiment services.

According to the development of the basic computer teaching reform of our university, with the support of the competent department and the college, a new hardware laboratory was built last year, which expanded the experimental business scope of the computing center.

With many years of experience in the construction, management and maintenance of computer laboratories and the spirit of responsibility, the equipment of the computing center has maintained a high intact rate and utilization rate, and has successfully completed the machine time tasks assigned by the school every year, with more than 10,000 students and more than 30 computer experiment courses every year, which has played a very good role in the teaching experiment of our school.

3. Management and service.

1) In terms of management, a time management system for teaching planning in the computer room has been established to improve the efficiency of the use of equipment.

2) The establishment of paperless homework service, on the one hand, to provide each student with 10m of space to graduate, convenient for students to learn on the computer, on the other hand, to provide teachers with paperless homework teaching technology and means.

4) In addition to completing the teaching experiment tasks, it also completes the online enrollment of our school and the examination of the Guangdong Provincial Computer Proficiency Test and the examination of the test center of Huagong University every year.
