There are no four essentials and nine steps to study Buddhism, and I don't know what you know in **. Venerable Ji Qun's four basic understandings of Buddhism may be helpful to you.
First, we must recognize the great significance of the human body. The human body is rare, the Dharma smells bad, and without the human body, there is no practice.
The importance of the second heart. Motivation represents the goal and direction of life. Not only do you need to be motivated to study Buddhism, but you also need to be intentional about achieving worldly interests.
3. Understand the full meaning of refuge. Many people see refuge as a form of becoming a Buddhist, with little awareness of how important it is to their spiritual practice. In fact, the whole practice of Buddhism has not departed from the connotation of refuge.
The Three Jewels of Buddha, Dharma and Sangha that we take refuge in represent the totality of the Dharma, and without any one of them, it is incomplete. Studying Buddhism, starting with taking refuge in the external Three Jewels, and finally practicing the inner Three Jewels in one's own life, covers the entire process from practice to attainment.
Fourth, we believe in cause and effect. People who study Buddhism probably think that they believe in cause and effect. But ask yourself:
To what extent do we believe in cause and effect? Is it a "faith" that is "convinced" or a "I would rather believe what I have than what I don't"? For students of Buddhism, it is very important to be convinced of karmic results.
Why do the disturbing problems of ignorance cause us to pass on birth and death? Why does creating negative karma cause life to feel bitter? It is the law of cause and effect that governs.
Why can diligent practice of precepts and wisdom achieve Buddhahood? It also depends on the principle of "if it is the cause, if it is the effect". Only when we are convinced that our karma is true can we consciously stop evil and do good, and truly take responsibility for our own lives.
The Nine Steps of Studying Buddhism can be divided into nine steps according to the experience of the last study: Initiating a letter, making a vow, reciting sutras, taking refuge, apprenticing to a teacher, receiving ordination, cultivating meditation, attaining wisdom, and fulfilling one's wish.

There are not so many, and there is no need to stipulate much, explain the truth clearly, and then be able to integrate knowledge and action. To be more self-disciplined, more introspection and correct wrong thoughts and wrong behaviors, and then what, to remember to do good, to do charity, to be helpful, a goal of everything, to complete different things according to their own ability to complete different content of that help, five, standardize behavior, six, at the same time, to correct one's own thinking, this is called mind cultivation, if the state of thought does not go up, then in the same place, or there will be, the possibility of regression, so this is a very important link, to an advanced stage, It must involve correcting the content of the mind, which requires constant repeated experience and training, so this kind of thing is a long-term, corrective process, a process of changing personality and changing faults.

If it is a broad treatise, then I am afraid that there are very few people who answer this question, because this tome is rarely studied in Han China, if it is a theory of the teacher and the earth, but no matter what time and what steps, in fact, it can be summed up as nothing more than the four immeasurable minds, plus the six paramitas, and then condensed is the belief and wishing, and if there is a lazy master, he will directly tell you to practice the four preliminaries before practicing the Fa, and then if you are lazy, you will say please read and recite the vows a thousand times.

I don't know if such a teacher is worthy of admiration and learning, but I know that there should be no such thing as eternal life in Buddhism, and the essence of Buddhism is not about how to ensure the immortality of life, so this teacher's lecture and example on this issue is actually inappropriate, or it is not in line with the conventional teachings of Buddhism. >>>More
