The bare cognition of the sixth consciousness is the consciousness, which seems to exist as a whole with the "self-nature enlightenment" that runs through the eight consciousnesses.

This consciousness is the instinctive operation under the function of "wonderful self-nature", as soon as the object of perception appears, this consciousness will appear at the same time, in fact, the consciousness and the consciousness are the same body, both are the products of the function of the "wonderful self-nature".

So, in the first moment of this enlightenment, there is no judgment distinction. In order for the self-nature to produce the "phase", it needs the condition, so the cause that arises from the "appearance" of the consciousness is the object of awareness, and as soon as there is the object of awareness, the self-nature immediately gives birth to consciousness at the same time. Therefore, the state of bare cognition, also called the state of nature, is very close to the original nature of nature.

Judgment and distinction are also produced by self-nature, but the conditions they produce are not the single objects of perception mentioned above, but also need the injection of various other conditions, so they are no longer bare cognitions, and the conditions that arise in this case are qualitative conditions rather than sexual conditions, and they are far from the original nature of nature.

This may not be easy to understand, so let's take an example. We know that the first five consciousnesses are all bare cognitions, so let's take the ear cognition as an example. Strike the gong and you can hear the sound of the bell.

Knock on the drum and you can hear the "dong dong" phase. Even when nothing is knocked, there is also a phase, and the state of not having any sound is also a kind of phase, so it is called "quiet" phase.

In fact, the "bell-bell" phase, the "dong-dong" phase, and the "quiet" phase, these three different sound phases are not obtained at the first moment of ear awareness, but only after the sixth consciousness. For the ear, it does not hear three different sounds, but hears three identical sounds.

It can also be said that outside, whether it is a dog barking or a donkey barking, a car or an airplane, and so on, the ears hear the same sound.

Ear nature (smell nature) is a function of self-nature, and when it encounters conditions, it can give birth to appearances. In fact, the object that can be heard and the object that is heard are actually born at the same time by the ear nature, and there is only one thing that can be heard in the eyes of the ear nature, so the object of hearing is naturally the same thing, and naturally there is no difference. Therefore, bare cognition is very close to the original nature of nature, and the obtained state is the state of nature.

The eyes, nose, tongue and body are the same.

1. Bare quantity, specific quantity, and holy quantity. Bare cognition is the ability to intuit its existence without conscious thinking, that is, direct knowledge, such as a person's hand touching fire, immediately knowing that its existence is; If you see smoke in the distance, you know that there will be fire in the other place, and when you hear the voice of talking next door, you know that there must be someone inside; The Holy Teaching, also known as the Holy Word, is the meaning that is known only because of the words and teachings of the saints.

2. Bare quantity, specific quantity, non-quantity. As mentioned above, when the non-quantity is the mind and the state of the mind, the judgment is wrong, such as seeing the rope and thinking that it is a snake, seeing the moon and thinking that it is dawn, etc.

3. The word proof is created by modern people, and it is best to find the person who created the word to explain it himself. If we take the experience of personal cultivation as the evidence, then the evidence is just a mixture of bare quantity and concrete quantity.
