Zhang Xuanwu, formerly known as Zhang Minglin, is a native of Wali Village, Xianghe Township, Piyang County. In 1922, he served as a soldier under Feng Yuxiang and served as a platoon, company, and battalion commander. In 1933, he joined the Sichuan Army Tian Songyao as the head of the regiment.
In September 1945, he went to Luohe, Henan Province to accept the surrender of the 13th Independent Garrison of the Japanese Army. Later, he served as lieutenant general. In December 1949, there was an uprising in Sichuan.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as the counselor of the Shandong Provincial People's Counselor's Office, a member of the Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and the chairman of the Provincial Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese People's Revolution. He died in Jinan in October 1984.
