There are more than 4,000 idioms, 96% of which are in four-character format, and there are also more than three-, five-, six-, and seven-character idioms. Such as "50 steps and 100 steps of laughter", "closed door", "unnecessary", "quick is not reached", "drunkard's intention is not in wine" and so on. A large part of idioms are inherited from ancient times, and they are often different from modern Chinese in terms of terminology.

Among them are sentences from ancient books, phrases compressed from the writings of the ancients, and idioms often spoken by the people. Some meanings are literally understandable, others are not easy to understand literally, especially allusions. For example, "sweat cows are full of buildings", "tigers are standing on dragons", "the mountains are rising", "plants and trees are soldiers" and so on, which occupy a certain proportion in Chinese idioms.

The Chinese language has a long history and has a particularly large number of idioms, which is also a characteristic of the Chinese language.
