What are the opportunities and challenges facing China s development?

China's development is still in a period of important strategic opportunities, but there are new developments and changes in both opportunities and challenges. At the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Comrade Zheng made this major assertion, which reflected the general secretary and his sober understanding and scientific grasp of the situation and tasks, and provided a fundamental basis for our party and country to plan for new development.

How to seize the opportunities and meet the challenges?

First, we should actively participate in multilateral cooperation mechanisms around the world, especially in the surrounding regions, and strive to create a "multilateral cooperation belt" in which China can play an important role

If we can promote a multilateral cooperation mechanism in Northeast Asia on the basis of resolving the North Korean nuclear issue and further promote multilateral cooperation between China and South Asian countries under the favorable situation of improving Sino-Indian relations, we will create a more favorable surrounding environment for China's security and development.

Second, China should promote its relations with other major powers, especially the United States, not only from a bilateral perspective, but also through global strategic cooperation. Historical experience has proved that when talking about Sino-US relations, the two sides often reach a deadlock on issues such as Taiwan, human rights, and China, while promoting Sino-US relations through global strategic cooperation is much more effective.

Third, it is necessary to further strengthen the traditional friendship with developing countries and, when necessary, provide economic and cultural assistance within its capacity. This can be divided into five levels: First, special attention should be paid to strengthening cooperation with the mainstream forces of Islam and the Arab world in the overall situation of counter-terrorism;

Second, it is necessary to further develop security and economic cooperation with Central Asian countries within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and special attention should be paid to the development of Sino-Mongolian relations.

Third, while maintaining the good momentum of development of China-India relations, we should not forget to consolidate the traditional friendship and cooperation between China and Pakistan.

Fourth, we will continue to promote comprehensive cooperative relations between China and ASEAN countries;

Fifth, it is necessary to promote political, economic and cultural relations between China and other developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Developing countries have shifted from a political and strategic middle ground during the cold war to a politically important region at present, and are still the object of attention and struggle of major powers, with resources and markets as important targets. China's relations with the vast number of developing countries have a good foundation. We have always supported them in safeguarding their national independence and developing their national economies.

On many issues, we share common and similar positions and viewpoints, which are the strategic depth and support for my maneuvering with major powers, and are also an important fellow traveler of my efforts to oppose hegemonism, safeguard world peace, and promote the multipolarization of the pattern of international relations and the democratization of international relations. Therefore, the issue of relations with the vast number of developing countries should be a long-term task that we should devote our diplomatic efforts to accomplish.

The historical opportunity is to seize the current favorable domestic and foreign environment to achieve the historic goal of a strong country, a prosperous people, and national rejuvenation.

The challenge is to achieve that before a crisis arises.
