Thinking about it in my heart, I repeated it in my mouth: "Monk pushes ......."The monk knocked on ......His right hand also unconsciously followed the performance: one moment reaching out and pushing, the other raising his hand in a knocking posture.

At this time, the famous writer, "Jing Zhaoyin" and "Servant of the Ministry of Officials" Han Yu happened to pass by, and the honor guard came over with a hug. According to the rules of the time, when a dignitary passed by, pedestrians had to stay away and give way, otherwise they would commit a crime. Jia Dao was fascinated by his poem at this time, but he didn't realize it, and when he got close, it was too late to avoid it, so he was immediately twisted by the servants and brought to Han Yuma.

Han Yu asked the reason, not only did not blame Jia Dao, but also praised him for his serious creative attitude. Regarding the words "push" and "knock", Han Yu pondered for a while and said, "It's still 'knocking.'"'The word is good.

The two rode side by side and talked about the writing of poetry. Since then, they have become friends.

The idiom "scrutiny" is due to this story. Later, it was described as repeatedly studying the wording and considering the words, which was called "scrutiny".

The tolerance immediately dragged Jia Dao off the donkey's back and pushed it in front of Han Yu's eyes. Jia Dao had no choice but to talk about composing poetry. After hearing this, Han Yu not only did not blame Jia Dao, but said to Jia Dao with a smile: "It's better to 'knock' the word!" ”

This story later came into being a term called "scrutiny." It means to think twice about the text. "Repeated scrutiny" means repeated pondering and revision.

Similar to "scrutiny" is the word "discretion" and the idiom of "word deliberation".

(2) White head as new

"White-headed as new" means that although they are white-headed friends, they don't know themselves, and they don't have a deep friendship.

During the Western Han Dynasty, Zou Yang was once imprisoned by King Xiao of Liang because he was framed and was ready to be executed. Zou Yang was so angry that he wrote a letter to King Liang Xiao from prison, in which he listed the facts: "If you treat people sincerely, you will not be suspected, and it is purely an empty word." ”

He wrote: "Jing Ke risked his life to assassinate Qin Shi Huang for Prince Dan of Yan, but Prince Dan once suspected that he was timid and fearful, and did not dare to set off immediately. Bian He offered Baoyu to the king of Chu, but the king of Chu insisted that he had committed the crime of defrauding the king and ordered his feet to be cut off.

Li Si tried his best to assist Qin Shi Huang in ruling and make the Qin state rich and strong, but was executed by Qin II. That's why the proverb says, 'A white head is as new, and a cover as it has been.'"

The two sides don't understand each other, even if they have been dating for a lifetime and their hair is gray, they are still the same as when they first met; Truly get to know each other, even if it's a first-time acquaintance, like an old friend. ”

After reading Zou Yang's letter, King Liang Xiaowang was very moved, and immediately released him and received him as a guest of honor.

Once, Jia Island rode a donkey to break through the official road. He was pondering a poem called "Li Ning's Secluded Residence", the whole poem is as follows: Idle living with few neighbors, grass path into the deserted garden.

The bird stays in the tree by the pool, and the monk knocks on the door under the moon. Cross the bridge to divide the wild colors, move the stones and move the cloud roots. Coming here for the time being, the tryst is worth it.

But he has one thing that he can't decide, that is, he thinks that the "push" in the second sentence of "the bird stays in the tree by the pond, and the monk pushes the moon down the door" should be replaced with "knock". But he felt that "knocking" was also a bit inappropriate, and it was better to "push". I don't know if it's better to "knock" or "push".

His mouth was muttering while scrutinizing. Unknowingly, he rode a donkey into the honor guard of the great official Han Yu (one of the eight masters of the Tang and Song dynasties).

Han Yu asked Jia Dao why he broke into his honor guard. Jia Dao read the poem he made to Han Yu, but he couldn't decide whether to use "push" or "use" in one of the sentences"Knock "Good things are said again." Han Yu listened and said to Jia Dao:

I think it's better to use 'knock', even in the dead of night, visiting friends, and knocking on the door means that you are a polite person!

Since then, scrutiny has become a popular common word, used as a metaphor for pondering and considering repeatedly when making an article or doing things.

So after a while, he was pushed in front of Jing Zhaoyin by the attendants left and right (Han Yu).

Jia Dao replied in detail to the poem he was brewing, and it was not determined whether to use the word "push" or "knock", and his mind left the thing in front of him, not knowing to avoid it. Han Yu stopped the carriage and thought for a while, and said to Jia Dao: "It's good to use the word 'knock'."

The two then rode home side by side on donkeys and horses, and talked together about how to compose poetry, and were reluctant to leave each other for several days. (Han Yu) thus became an ordinary person with Jia Island.

A man who took a boat trip to a friend's house in the middle of the night made a poem, and the last sentence was pushed or knocked? Always puzzled him.
