Xia Minghan died heroically on March 20, 1928 (the twenty-ninth day of the second lunar month) at the execution ground in Yujili, Hankou, at the age of 28.

Xia Minghan, a pioneer of the Chinese revolution and a famous revolutionary activist in the early days of our party, was born on August 1, 1900 in Zigui County, Yichang City, Hubei Province.

At the beginning of 1928, the communist Xia Minghan said goodbye to his wife and newborn daughter and came to Wuhan. The warlords of the Gui family, who were known for their barbarism, were hunting down revolutionaries, and many of them were executed without trial. For example, Li Hanjun, a representative of the party's "First National Congress", had already left the party at that time, and was killed immediately after being caught by the Gui warlords.

In the face of depression and terror in the market, Xia Minghan was not afraid, and still ran around various secret agencies, deploying a plan to "stop the New Year's riot".

A few days later, Xie Jueya suddenly informed that the traffic officer Song Ruolin was no longer reliable, and Xia Minghan returned to the Oriental Hotel to pack his things. When he was about to transfer, the traitor Song Ruolin broke into the room with a police detective.

Xia Minghan** was tortured continuously, and during the torture, he only angrily reprimanded the judge. When he returned to his cell, he knew that his life was coming to an end, so he endured the pain and wrote three letters to his mother, wife, and eldest sister with half a pencil. On the letter to his wife, Zheng Jiajun, he also left a bloodstained kiss print.

**Two days later, in the early morning of March 20, 1928, Xia Minghan was taken to the Yujili Execution Ground in Hankow. When the executive officer asked him if he had any last words, he shouted, "Yes, give me pen and paper!"
