The Three Kingdoms Wu, the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the Southern Dynasties Song, Qi, Liang and Chen successively built their capitals here, and the political, economic and cultural centers of the Six Dynasties. Formerly known as Jinling. Qinzhi County, the name Moling.
In the seventeenth year of Jian'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty (212), Sun Quan built a stone city here and renamed it Jianye. The Western Jin Dynasty was unified, and it was still called Moling. In the third year of Taikang (282), Moling was divided into the north and another Ye County.
Later, Emperor Sima Ye changed his name to Jiankang. The Eastern Jin Dynasty and the Southern Dynasties inherited each other. The ancient city is in present-day Nanjing, Jiangsu.
In the thirteenth year of Jian'an, Zhuge Liang sent an envoy to Jiangdong and said to Sun Quan: "Moling terrain, Zhongshan Longpan, stone tigers, this emperor's house." "Sun Wu founded the country, so he thought it was the capital.
More than 20 miles around the city. It is adjacent to Zhongshan Mountain in the east, Qinhuai in the south, the river in the west, and Houhu Lake (Xuanwu Lake) in the north, which is within the natural barrier. The Eastern Jin Dynasty and the Southern Dynasties were thought to be the capital, divided into Jiankang and Moling two counties, and the urban area was expanded to 40 miles from east to west, north and south.
The center is Miyagi (Taicheng). Baishilei (Baixia) in the north, Xuanwu City, Langxie County in the south, Stone City in the west, Yecheng in the southwest, Xizhou City in the southwest, Dongfu City in the southeast, Danyang County City in the south, there are heavy troops in Dutun. The shape of the dwelling is victorious, and the defense is strong, so it is the political center of the Six Dynasties.
The Book of Sui Geography said: "(Jiankang) villains rate many traders, gentlemen are in the official Lu, the market is listed, and the city is in Erjing (Chang'an, Luoyang). "The upper reaches of the Qinhuai River are placed in the mountains, and there is a broken Gangdu east to connect the Jiangnan Canal to pass through Wuhui.
Handicraft workshops and commercial shops on both sides of the Qinhuai Strait are dotted. Famous handicraft products include "100 steel", "ribbed brocade" and so on. Commercial shops include "big markets" with department stores, as well as small markets specializing in yarn, grain, salt, flowers, grass, cattle and horses.
The wharf often berths tens of thousands of Chinese and foreign merchant ships. Handicrafts and commerce are very developed, materials are sufficient, transportation is convenient, and Jiankang has become the economic center of the Six Dynasties. Jiankang is also the cultural center of the Six Dynasties.
During the Eastern Jin Dynasty, dignitaries and nobles gathered here to talk about the mysteries. Xiao Ziliang, the king of Jingling in the Southern Qi Dynasty, opened the "West Mansion" in Jilong Mountain, extended the famous monks and monks, and discussed the similarities and differences in culture. Zhong Rong's "Poems", Xiao Tong's "Selected Works", Shen Yue's "Four Voices" (no longer available), Liu Xian's "Wenxin Carving Dragon" and Fan Jin's "Theory of Divine Annihilation" and other famous works were also completed here.
During the Sun and Wu periods, Buddhism had spread to Jianye. There were more than 500 Jiankang monasteries in the Southern Dynasty, and more than 100,000 monks and nuns. The temple buildings are splendid, the murals are dazzling, and the sculptures are exquisite and vivid. Buddhist culture has developed significantly here.
At the time of prosperity, Jiankang had a population of 280,000 households. At the end of the Liang Dynasty, the city was destroyed, the population was scattered, and it began to be a depression. Chen Shi added repairs.
In the ninth year of the emperor's reign (589), the Sui soldiers destroyed Chen, except for the stone city (as the new Jiangzhou administrative office), all the palaces and cities in Jiankang were razed to the ground. Jiankang has been destroyed since then.
Xin Qiji once had a poem titled "Water Dragon Yin Deng Jiankang Appreciation Pavilion", which has the same meaning as the above.
Hope it helps.
