Everyone, good knowledge, can the six ancestors be illiterate?

Everyone has a past and present life, and so are the enlightened saints, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. The life of the six ancestors Huineng is not necessarily illiterate, in fact, the six ancestors Huineng is only because he is the so-called "Nanman" (Vietnamese) does not understand Chinese, although there are similarities between not understanding Chinese and "illiterate", but it cannot be said for sure that he did not read it when he was in Vietnam, and he has been exposed to a little ancient classics of Vietnamese, otherwise how could he have traveled thousands of miles to China to find a master who can enlighten himself? It must be that he has clearly read the experiences that indicate enlightenment recorded in the scriptures, and in order to verify the scriptures and truly attain enlightenment, he will wander the world to seek the Master, just like all good knowledge that seeks the Tao.

Listening to the teachings of a master can discern whether or not he can attain true liberation The discernment is extraordinary, and unless it is studied and practiced very carefully and thoroughly, it will not be possible to distinguish at all. Therefore, the sixth ancestor Hui Neng was able to get the reason for the fifth ancestor Hong ninja and inherited the mantle, which is inseparable from his very high level of cultivation in life and the deep root of wisdom.

This kind of saint who has practiced all his life and life has a very high level of wisdom and great blessings, how can he end up in a situation where he has no chance to learn, even if he has it, it is their spiritual choice, not the helplessness of ordinary people. The level of spirituality is not inside or outside, it cannot be seen or touched, and if it is not even talked to, others do not know how high their spiritual level is, and even if they talk, people with a very low level of wisdom do not understand the truth.

In short: it is not possible to simply say that a foreigner is "illiterate".

The altar scripture has quite a record of the six ancestors quoting the scriptures, whether they are illiterate or not, it can be seen.

However, if you want to study Buddhism and look at the knowledge of the world, it is too narrow. There are many learned people in the world, but they can't take us away from suffering even for a minute.

Sixth Ancestor or me, who is more powerful?

Words are the symbols that record language. Language is the oral expression of the emotions of all beings. The world is different, the countries are different, the nationalities are different, the beings are different, the times are different, the oral expression is different, and the words and symbols that record the language are very different.

Being born among men in this life does not mean that you were among men in previous lives; Being born in China in this life does not mean that you were born in China in a previous life; Even if you were born in China in this life and have been born in China in a past life, there may be a large time difference or geographical difference. Those who have a fateful pass and can remember the language and writing of the previous life do not mean that they can read and write in this life. If Master Huineng knew words in this life, it would no longer be the words of his previous life, in other words, he would have to learn them from scratch.

In addition, "the text carries the Tao" - the reason why people learn words is only because words can indicate the location of the "Tao". Master Huineng already knows the "Tao" from the cause of the past world and the fate of this world, so he does not need to learn words anymore.

Again, "All the Dharma has been separated from words and words, names and names, and centrifugal relationships." In order to correspond to the reality of the Dharma, we should stay away from all words.

The Venerable Master Xuanhua's Compassionate Teachings:

Hui Neng was enlightened. All laws are inseparable from their own nature. Then enlightened the monk. When is the self-nature self-purified. When the self-nature is not born and destroyed. When is the self-nature self-sufficient. He is unshaken in his own nature. What is the period of self-performance and ten thousand laws? ”

In the Fifth Patriarch Master told the Sixth Patriarch the "Diamond Sutra", he said that you should not live in love, nor in love, nor in emptiness, nor in existence, but that you should have nothing to live in and give birth to your heart.

Hui Neng said that he had a great enlightenment": At this time, the Sixth Patriarch Master suddenly became enlightened. This great realization is to understand this deep wisdom from beginning to end.

Because he understands the wisdom of deep prajna, he is able to "keep all the dharmas from his own nature": he knows that the mind gives birth to all the dharmas, and the ten thousand dharmas are idealistic. All the ten thousand dharmas are originally manifested by their own nature.

Then enlighten the monk": he said to the five ancestors, "When is the self-nature self-pure": he said, alas!

I really didn't expect that this nature was originally impure and pure. If you say that you are not dirty or clean, how can you say that you are pure? When we say purity, we mean that we are not pure, so that we can be pure!

This purity is the appearance of the body, and since there is no other name to represent it, it is represented by purity. This purity is not defilement, and then it is purified; This purity is inherently pure.

When is the self-nature not born and destroyed": he said that I really can't imagine that my own nature is originally immortal. Because sentient beings are attached, they are born and die; If there is no attachment, where is birth and death born? And to what place will it perish? There will be no more life and death.

When is the self-nature self-sufficient": he said that I really can't imagine that this self-nature is originally sufficient, and there is nothing to be owed; Not a little more, not a little less. For the sake of the Buddha, there is not a little bit of it; For the sake of all sentient beings, there is no less.

But in sentient beings, they don't know themselves. Why don't you recognize it? It is to feel that the dust is in harmony, so I don't know the treasures I have, so I abandon the basics and pursue the end, the fundamentals and the ends, the pursuit of all material enjoyments, the pursuit of all vain happiness, and the pursuit of all false names and false profits.

Yes! It's too stupid! This is so stupid!

Alas! Now I know that my own nature has everything.

When is the self-nature unshakable": all sentient beings are upside down and have no concentration, but what about this self-nature? The self-nature of each of us, this is not to say the self-nature of the Six Patriarchs, it is like this, the self-nature of all sentient beings is unshakable, they are all the same, they are all equal.

When is the period of self-regeneration of ten thousand laws": Ah! I really can't imagine that all the laws are born from their own nature, and this self-nature is all-encompassing, I really couldn't have imagined it before, so now I have proved this kind of wonderful truth! It's wonderful.

The six ancestors Huineng was enlightened, clear-minded, and was the realm of Buddha, not to mention a generation of monks.

True wisdom is self-sufficient, because of the precepts, you get meditation, because of meditation to open wisdom, not from learning from the outside, what you learn is called knowledge. Words are just tools for expression.

Let's take a look at the following, and according to the "Three Tibetan Dharma" VIII, the text in it, First, the nature of the constant, that is, the Dharmakaya, is said to be the nature of the Dharmakaya, and there is no birth and no destruction. It's true, it's not fake. Innocence, without the slightest falsehood, who will see it?

The discerning man has seen it. Shakyamuni Buddha was enlightened under the Bodhi tree, and he saw the nature clearly, he saw the nature, saw the nature, and saw the nature of dwelling, immortal and imperishable. Master Huineng, the six ancestors of Chinese Zen Buddhism, he also saw it when he was enlightened, and he made a report to the five ancestors, When is the self-nature, the nature is pure, and it has never been polluted; Self-nature is not born and destroyed, which is what is said here; Self-nature is self-sufficient, self-nature is unshakable, and can give birth to ten thousand laws.

What he said in these five sentences is that the Dharmakaya nature is permanent and the nature is constant.

Not knowing a word does not affect people to have a university education, nor does it affect him to influence others to become a benchmark.

He has gained it by his usual accumulation, his experience of life experience.

Buddhism is actually very simple, so simple that if you can look at the problem from the right angle, everything the Buddha says is in the vernacular, and there is no so-called profound philosophy to speak of. When we say that Buddhism is difficult, the difficulty is that we cannot understand it.

The Lu family was already poor, and when Huineng was only 3 years old, his father also died, leaving him and his mother to rely on each other.

When Huineng was 24 years old, because he listened to the "Diamond Sutra" in "should have no place to live, but give birth to his heart", his heart was enlightened, so he went to Huangmei alone to seek the Dharma.

Although illiterate. But he had a good character, was a philanthropist, loved to help others, and had his own study of the Dharma.

He can be enlightened and clear-sighted, which is the realm of Buddha, not to mention a generation of monks.
