The eighteenth story of Chinese culture burns the arm and filial piety.

In January 1948, Master Ben Huan, who was practicing at Puji Temple in Shanghai at the time, received a letter from home saying that his mother was seriously ill. Although he has been a monk for 18 years, Master Benhuan, who has also reached a higher level of cultivation, still misses and cherishes his biological mother so much, so he asks the abbot for leave and goes back to his hometown in Hubei to visit his mother.

In January of 48 years, the war was panicked, the cold wind was steep, and the mountains were steep, all of which could not stop Ben Huan from missing his mother, and along the way, he remembered that his teacher, the old monk Laiguo, often taught him that monks should repay the kindness of the land, all beings, parents, and Buddha. When he returned home, his mother was terminally ill, and he was at home during the day, taking care of his mother, bringing tea and water to her, feeding her food and urine, and going to Bao'en Temple not far from home at night to cultivate and study Sanzang.

After his mother died of illness, in order to repay his mother's nurturing kindness, Master Benhuan lit his arm as a lamp and recited the "Dizang Sutra" to spend 7749 days for his mother. He knelt on his knees, flattened his arms, took three half-inch lamp grass and tied them together, dipped them in rapeseed oil, lit a fire and burned them on his arms, offered to the Buddha with his own body, and sent his mother to death. This is the story of the famous burning arm filial piety.

Buddhism is not not about filial piety, Buddhism is about great filial piety, for the country, for all sentient beings to solve problems, beyond sentient beings, this of course also includes filial piety to parents!

Literally burns one's own arm for candle lighting.

It means to have a spirit of sacrifice and make selfless actions to make offerings to the Buddha or pray for the blessings of Jian Hui people, that is, to sacrifice one's life to offer to the Buddha.

Burning the top and staring at the leakage, burning the arm, and burning the finger is a way of practicing in Buddhism, and it is a kind of asceticism that means devoting oneself to feeding tigers.

The scriptures tell us that the meaning of burning your fingers and burning your body is to 'burn yourself and shine on others', not really to ask you to burn your own body;The body is burned, what is the use of the leakage? Therefore, the true meaning of burning incense is to make a vow in front of the Buddha and sacrifice oneself for others, which is called true offering. Being able to sacrifice one's life for others, at all costs, is a real incense burner.

Otherwise, you will have no merit in burning your whole body. So, you just burn one on your body, and you often see it, reminding yourself that you must never be selfish, and that everything must be for the sake of sentient beings and the Fa-rectification, and that's right.

This is only the case after the death, and it is just a tribute to the deceased loved one.

In the first half of his life, the old monk Benhuan was determined to do asceticism, participate in the study of scriptures, laws, and doctrines, sit in meditation, retreat, kneel and worship the five bows, prick blood and write scriptures, burn arms and filial piety, promote the Dharma and live a life, lead the people to keep the precepts, follow the rules of the hundred zhang, inherit the style of Zen Buddhism, advocate human Buddhism, and honor the title of Buddhism. In the second half of his life, he traveled to China and abroad, traveled in all directions, made good fortunes, worked hard, built temples and monks, for more than ten years, successively restored the temple, Guangxiao Temple, Hongfa Temple, Bao'en Temple, Zhengjue Temple, Liankai Temple, Daxiong Temple and other seven temples, with a total building area of about 60,000 square meters, planning more than 250 million yuan, the virtue is towering, and it can be called a great master of Buddhism. Monk Benhuan attaches great importance to spreading Chinese Buddhist culture to overseas believers, and has spent more than ten years visiting many countries and regions in Europe, America and Southeast Asia.

Flower filial piety refers to wearing filial piety for grandparents and maternal grandparents or other successors. Children generally wear heavy filial piety, and flower filial piety should be added with red tassels and blue tassels.
