How to make a cab file, cab file making problems

A cab (cabinet) file is a compressed format file, a cab file contains a compressed version of one or more files and their installation information files (e.g., which dll files need to be installed, which ** resources, etc., registry information, etc.). If you plan to distribute MFC controls and ATL controls over the Internet, you should package them into small (cabinet-cab) files that you sign and use the signatures to ensure that your controls are safe for users.

Archive file. A single archive file that stores multiple compressed files. These files are typically used for software installation, but also to reduce file size and shorten the time associated with web content.

CAB is a compression format for Windows, which can be opened with WinRAR. But some are encrypted. It can't be opened with a general compression program.

Use extract to extract the cab file.

It's an MS-DOS program, so it doesn't have a windowed graphical interface, and if you've been a user of the DOS operating system before, you'll be familiar with the syntax of this type of program. Let's take a look at the instructions for extract.

extract /a cabinet> filename> /l destination>

cabinet is the cab file name.

filename is the name of the file you want to retrieve from cab.

destination is where the file will be placed after it is extracted.

It's just for marking instructions, not part of the command, note that there's a blank space between each parameter.

Since I don't have a detailed list of cabs for Windows 95 98, I don't know which file is in which cab file, and the only way is to try to find it one by one.

Let's take a practical example to make it easier to understand, let's say, I want to solve C: Windows System (yes) and assume that my optical drive code is F, and you can just change it to your optical drive code name. (the path to your cab file).

Extract can also accept the universal character * symbol.
