The 14 volcanoes in the Wudalianchi area are all located at the intersection of the north-east and north-west lines, forming a checkerboard layout. Geologists have shown that the 14 volcanic cones are regularly aligned and controlled by faults deep in the earth's crust. The NE and NW faults in the Wudalianchi area are very well developed and dominated by NE, and the magma in the Earth's interior erupts along the intersection of the NE and NW fault zones, forming neatly arranged volcanic cones.
