The Book of Songs: also known as "poems" or "three hundred poems", it is the earliest collection of poetry in China. It brings together 305 poems from the early years of the Western Zhou Dynasty to the middle of the Spring and Autumn Period, that is, from 1100 BC to 600 BC, about 500 years.
The Book of Poetry was called "Poems" in the pre-Qin period, or the number of poems was called "Three Hundred Poems", which was originally just a collection of poems. However, from the Han Dynasty onwards, Confucian scholars regarded the "Book of Songs" as a classic, honored it as the "Book of Songs", and included it in the first of the "Five Classics".
The poems in the Book of Songs were originally lyrics of the soundtrack, and according to the nature of the original music, they were divided into three categories: wind, elegance, and song.
"Wind" means earth wind, wind ballad, that is, the folk songs and ballads of various places. "Wind" includes the folk songs of the fifteen candidate countries, that is, the "wind of the fifteen countries", a total of 160 pieces. It accounts for more than half of the Book of Songs.
Compared with "Ya" and "Song", "Wind" seems lively and has a stronger breath of life, such as the opening "Guan Ju" to write about young people who are in love for the first time. "Hooligans" writes about the grievances of a woman who has been abandoned by her husband. "The Quiet Girl" writes about the subtle psychology of falling in love.
"Ya" is the correct sound of elegant music, is an orthodox court music. "Ya" is divided into "Da Ya" and "Xiao Ya", with a total of 105 articles. "Daya" is a ceremony used for grand banquets; "Xiaoya" is a ceremony used for general banquets.
"Song" is a sacrificial song, used in the palace temple to worship the ancestors, pray and praise the gods, a total of 40 extant articles.

The first collection of poetry in China, the Book of Songs
The Book of Poetry is the earliest collection of poetry in China. Its high ideological and artistic achievements shine with an indelible brilliance in the history of Chinese literature and even in the world.
The Book of Songs was originally only called "Poems", because there were 311 selected poems (6 poems with eyes and no poems), so it was also called "Three Hundred Poems". Confucius used the "Three Hundred Poems" as a textbook for moral education, and later Confucianism regarded it as a classic, so the name "The Book of Songs" appeared. The earliest poems of the Book of Songs were probably written in the early Western Zhou Dynasty, and the latest works were written in the middle of the Spring and Autumn Period, covering about six centuries.
In the Western Zhou Dynasty, China's ** and poetry have reached a very high level, and the musicians of the Zhou royal family and various vassal states have continuously collected poems from various regions and classes through various channels, and sorted them out for performance. After entering the Spring and Autumn Period, although there was social turmoil and continuous military disasters, this work was not interrupted. After such a long-term accumulation, the "Book of Songs" was passed down by Confucius and deleted.
According to the different **, the works are divided into three categories: "Wind", "Ya" and "Song". "Wind", also known as "National Wind", is a ** with local colors, and most of them are folk songs. There are a total of 160 pieces of "National Style", including the music songs of 15 regions and countries such as Zhounan, Zhaonan, Shao, Hu, Wei, Wang, Zheng, Hui, Qi, Wei, Tang, Qin, Feng, Chen, and Cao, such as "Zheng Feng" is Zheng Guo's tune, and "Qin Feng" is Qin's national tune.
Ya" refers to the ** of the region directly ruled by the Zhou Dynasty, "Ya" has the meaning of "zheng", and this ** is regarded as "zhengsheng", which is intended to show that it is different from the ** of other regions. Ya poems are divided into Da Ya and Xiao Ya, with a total of 105 pieces, most of which are the works of court officials and ministers, and a small part are folk songs. "Song" is a piece of music for nobles to worship ghosts and gods in their family temples and praise the merits of their ancestors and rulers, and is divided into "Song of Zhou", "Song of Lu" and "Song of Shang", a total of 40 pieces.
The essence of the Book of Songs, mainly in the "National Style" part, many of these works were oral creations of the people at that time, which truly depicted the social style of the time, and reflected the people's desire and requirements to oppose oppression and exploitation, and pursue freedom, happiness and an ideal life.
