    It is an academic mass organization voluntarily united by Chinese horticultural science and technology workers. It is an integral part of the China Association for Science and Technology.     The Society was founded in 1929. In 1934, the first issue of the Bulletin of the Chinese Horticultural Society was published. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the activities of the society basically stopped.

    After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the meeting was resumed in Nanjing, and in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing and other places, the establishment of local horticultural societies and organizations, the compilation and printing of horticultural society newspapers and other publications. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Congress of the Chinese Horticultural Society was held in Beijing in August 1956 to elect the first council. In 1957, he published the "Horticultural Bulletin" and the "Garden Newsletter".

    In May 1962, the Journal of Horticulture was published, with four issues a year. In 1966, the activities of the Chinese Horticultural Society ceased to exist, and the Journal of Horticultural Sciences ceased publication until Volume 5, Issue 2. In July 1978, the Society resumed its activities.

    In August, Acta Horticulturae Sinica resumed publication. In 1981, he joined the International Horticultural Society as an associate member.

    The society has 5 groups: domestic academic exchange group, international academic exchange group, science popularization group, education group, and organization group. There are 4 professional committees.

    Among them, the Fruit Tree Professional Committee is presided over by the Institute of Pomology of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (Xingcheng, Liaoning), which has more than 4,330 members in 1990; The Vegetable Professional Committee is presided over by the Institute of Vegetables and Flowers of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (Beijing); The professional committee of western and melon is presided over by the Zhengzhou Fruit Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The Ornamental Horticulture Professional Committee is presided over by Beijing Gyeongju Forestry University.
