First, the length is fixed.

Each poem has eight sentences, each sentence has seven characters, and Du has a total of 56 words. its first.

The first and second sentences are called "first couplets", the third and fourth sentences are called "jaw couplets", the fifth and sixth sentences are called "neck couplets", and the seventh and eighth sentences are called "tail couplets".

Second, the rhyme is strict.

The whole text rhymes with four or five rhymes, and generally rhymes with even sentences, that is, the first.

The last word of the second, fourth, sixth, and eighth sentences should rhyme with each other. The first sentence can be rhymed or not, usually rhymed flat, rhymed to the end, and no rhyme was changed in the middle. It is also required to rhyme with the words in the rhyme book.

In principle, only the original rhyme can be used, and the adjacent rhyme cannot be used; Even if it is a little looser, only the first sentence that rhymes can be used in adjacent rhymes, which is called "borrowing rhyme".

According to whether the first sentence rhymes, seven-word rhythm poems can be divided into two formats: the first sentence rhymes and the first sentence does not rhyme, of which the first sentence rhymes is the positive case, which is different from the five-word rhythm poem.

3. Pay attention to fairness.

That is, to conform to the law of Pingxuan, that is, under normal circumstances, two syllables (two words) are used as one sound step, and Pingxuan is arranged interactively. According to the first two words of the first sentence, the seven-character rhythm poem is divided into two bodies: flat and qi.

According to the Ping Xuan Law, there are four standard sentence patterns for seven-character rhythm poems:

1. Ping Ping Ping (Ping Qi Ping Harvest, the last two words are Ping Ping, called Ping Ping Foot);

2. Ping Ping (Ping Qi Qi Qi Receipt, the last two words are Ping Qi, called Ping Qi feet);

3, 仄仄平平仄平 (仄起平收, the last two words are 仄平, called 仄平foot);

4, 仄仄平平仄仄 (仄起仄軄, the last two words are 仄仄, called 仄仄 feet).

These four sentence patterns are the basis for the variation of the flat form of the poem, thus constituting the four basic forms of the seven-character poem.

Fourth, the demand for confrontation.

The jaw joint and the neck joint must be opposed, and the first joint and the tail joint can be right or not. The seven-character rhythm poem is based on the fact that the first couplet and the last couplet are not right.
