In the Buddhist education system, there is no division of life into animals and plants.2 The division of sentient beings in Buddhism is between sentient beings and non-sentient beings
The eight sufferings are: the suffering of birth, the suffering of old age, the suffering of sickness, and the suffering of death. Resentment will be bitter, love will not be bitter, there will be no suffering, and the five aggregates will be full of suffering. Those who can feel the eight sufferings are sentient beings.
Although plants have vitality but no history of ruthlessness, plants have the phenomenon of growth and nervous reactions, but they have no conscious mind and cannot perceive the eight sufferings. There is no feeling of happiness and sadness, so although plants are life, they do not feel life and death in the six realms of reincarnation. Whole grains, fruits, and vegetables all belong to ruthless beings.
Any action that sentient beings do is inseparable from awareness.

This is a simple biological classification, Buddhism says that living things are divided into inviting and ruthless, ruthless is relatively simple, that is, plants, they do not participate in the six realms of reincarnation, and sentient beings refer to modern doctrines of human beings, animals, microorganisms, together with the legendary Heavenly Dao, asuras, yakshas, etc. participate in the six realms of reincarnation, and all sentient beings are invited beings to be all sentient beings; The ancients simply believed that plants have no thoughts, animals have thoughts, so there is affection, ruthlessness;

Sentient beings are divided into sentient beings and unforgiving beings.
Let's start with ruthless beings, such as trees, flowers and plants, these are all ruthless beings.
Sentient beings, on the other hand, refer to beings of animal species (including humans) who have emotions of joy, anger, sorrow, and sorrow.

Sentient beings are also known as sentient beings, i.e., all sentient beings. Born of the fate of all beings, it is called sentient beings, and it is called sentient beings by holding the immeasurable cycle of life and death. In the Ten Dharma Realms, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Arhats, and Pizhi Buddhas are holy beings, separated from birth and death, and the rest are sentient, and the heavens, humans, asuras, beings, ghosts, and hells have gone through the six realms of reincarnation, and are ordinary people.
The new translation of Sanskrit is said to be sentient, and the old translation is to say sentient beings. All beings have multiple meanings: (1) The righteousness of the symbiosis of all beings.
The fourth sentence of the Fahua text says: 'The twelve clouds of the middle and the Aham: the first light and sound of the heavens, the next life in the world, there is no male and female dignity and inferiority in the symbiotic world, so it is said that all beings are sentient beings.
This was originally also. (2) The Dharma of many, born of false harmony, hence the name of sentient beings. The Dharma Drum Sutra says:
Ten thousand dharmas and joint facilities are set up in the name of sentient beings. 'Note Vimala Sutra 2 says stupid slippery: 'Sheng:
All living beings will be born, and the Lord of the One will be ruled by name. The sixth chapter of the Mahayana righteousness says: "It is born according to the harmony of the five yin, hence the name of sentient beings."
Dajing Huiyuan said: 'All laws become life, also known as sentient beings. 'Lotus Chinese sentence 4 says:
If there is a yin in the crowd, it is a pseudonymous sentient being. This is also reported according to the first issue. (3) Through many births and deaths, hence the name of sentient beings.
It is not said that all the dead, but those who live must die, and those who die must have a cause for life. Prajna Lamp says: 'The sentient beings count their lives, hence the name of sentient beings.'
Chapter 7 of the Mahayana Righteousness says: 'The succession of multiple births is called sentient beings.' 'Lotus Chinese sentence 4 says:
If you say that you are born everywhere, you are called sentient beings. This is also according to the five realms of karma. 'Kusha Guangji said:
Affected by many lives and deaths, so Duan Jie is famous for all sentient beings. The husband will die, and the life can be killed, so the words are sentient beings. Death does not have to be born, such as entering Nirvana, so it is not said that everyone will die.
A book of only knowledge says: 'Brahma Yunsata, this word has affection, and there is affection. ’

People who really value feelings are not disguised by rhetoric, but by heart. The feelings in my heart can't help but be revealed, and they can't be hidden. There should be the following five manifestations.
1. Always leave the smile and sincerity to your friends, and keep the loneliness to yourself.
Because they care about the feelings between friends very much, they are always worried about who they will hurt, so they "stick a knife in both sides" for their friends. Whatever you can do to help your friends, do it wholeheartedly.
Treat your friend's affairs as your own, and worry that you can't do it well, making your friends feel left out. Friends think that you are a warm-hearted person, affectionate and righteous, and worthy of association.
However, when you are alone, people who value feelings are lonely, and they always digest their emotions slowly when they are alone. I learned to be quiet, and I bear it silently, whether it is grievances or pain.
2. Never ignore anyone, never look down on people.
Everywhere, you are everyone's pistachio. For example, in the factory, you are willing to make friends with security guards, at least you will not look down at people, or do not look at each other.
You are afraid of losing the excitement of the heart. I hope everyone can be happy together, cherish their feelings, and get along with each other sincerely.
Often this kind of thinking, in fact, society is not like this, therefore, you will also be unable to do it. But you still stick to your zeal, as always.
3. It is your habit to think about the good in everything, and you always comfort yourself in this way.
People who value feelings do not doubt people, but trust people. Believe in a person's life with sincerity. Perhaps, there is harm, but you feel that it is a misunderstanding, a wrong perception.
Because of trust, it has become a habit for you not to look at the shortcomings of others, but to look at the strengths of others. If a person is not good-looking, you will also see that his heart is beautiful, or see his actions at a certain time, which makes you feel very moral.
You don't have a crooked heart, you always look at the sunny side.
4. You are the more seriously injured party in terms of feelings.
Because you value affection, you always give up the bad side to yourself and a happy life to the other party. In love, you are always hurt, but you still feel that you deserve it.
Whoever loves more, when he leaves, hurts more. Therefore, your feelings are always hurt to the point that your body is incomplete.
Fortunately, you have a sunny heart, tidy up, and you can continue to love. There are also people who no longer believe in feelings after being hurt, but among those who value feelings, they are a minority.

Broadly speaking, he also has to include ruthless beings, and only then can he be complete. If we only talk about sentient beings, and ignore the ruthless beings, this will not work! Your character will not be perfect.
If you want to develop the perfection of nature, both emotion and ruthlessness should be included in it. Because the word sentient beings means in a broad sense, the phenomena that arise from the harmony of all beings are called sentient beings. Our sentient animals are phenomena that arise from the harmony of all causes; Ruthless sentient beings are also a phenomenon that arises from the harmony of all beings, so the word "sentient beings" includes affection and ruthlessness, both of which are called sentient beings.
Can't we just talk about sentient beings? No way! When I just talked about it, it was not perfect.
If we look at these things in the Western Elysium, if you look at the trees, at the building, at the flower ponds, it's all neat and tidy and not messy at all, which means that even the appearance of the object is included in it.
Quite a few Buddhist texts, including some of the most famous monks in the Buddhist world (such as Master Pure Space), divide sentient beings into two categories: sentient beings and unforgiving beings, and some even separate a non-sentient being to refer specifically to plants—thus dividing sentient beings into three categories. Generally speaking, animals and the like are sentient beings, and plants are said to be ruthless beings, or plants, mountains, rivers, earth, rocks, and so on are classified as ruthless beings.
However, I think it is wrong to divide sentient beings into sentient beings and ruthless beings in this way. I think sentient beings are sentient beings, and sentient beings are sentient beings. The ruthless cannot be said to be sentient beings.
For example, if we say that sentient beings have boundless vows, but can earth, rocks, and plants be able to save, they can't, of course, they can't say that they are sentient beings. If earth and stone plants can't be saved, instead of being attributed to sentient beings, then why don't they be called sentient boundless vows? We often say that all sentient beings have Buddha nature and can become Buddhas, but can earth, rocks and plants become Buddhas?
Since they can't become Buddhas, then they don't have Buddha nature, and they can't be said to be sentient beings.
-
All sentient beings have affection, ruthless sentient beings are convenient to say, the naked eye looks at the water ruthlessly, the heavenly eye sees the water everywhere insects, there are insects in the insects are inexhaustible, only become a Buddha to repay the kindness of the people.

The explanation of biology to biology in science is; Living matter, including animals, plants, microorganisms. Buddhism was founded 3,000 years ago and introduced to China 2,000 years ago. The ancient Greeks were the first to know that plants were alive, and the first to discover microorganisms were Europeans two hundred years ago.
The Chinese believe that plants are alive and that there is also the concept of microorganisms after Western medicine was introduced to China, less than a hundred years ago. Therefore, in Buddhism, we only refer to animals, not plants and microorganisms, because they do not have this concept yet.
