Da Hong Pao is divided into four varieties: Bird's Tongue, Beidou, Qi Dan, and Commodity Da Hong Pao, of which Beidou and Bird Tongue are the offspring of the vegetative reproduction of the Da Hong Pao mother tree, while Qi Dan is homologous to the No. 2 and No. 6 strains in the Jiulong Da Hong Pao Mother Tree, which is the real Da Hong Pao, and the commercial Da Hong Pao is made of more than three strains of tea.
The rank of the big red robe:
1.Extra-grade red robe.
The Dahongpao grade picked in spring is the best, and there are generally no pests and diseases in the spring tea season, and no pesticides are used, and the tea leaves are pollution-free, so the tea at this time is often the best tea quality in the year.
The shape of the tea leaves is firm, the aroma is strong and long, and the taste is mellow and sweet.
2.First-class red robe.
The summer harvest of Da Hong Pao coincides with hot weather, and although the new shoots of tea trees grow quickly, they are also prone to aging. The content of amino acids and vitamins in tea is reduced, which makes the aroma not as strong as that of spring tea; The increase in anthocyanins, caffeine, and tea polyphenols makes the tea taste slightly bitter, so the quality is slightly inferior to that of the special Dahongpao.
3.Second-class big red robe.
In the later stage of autumn tea, although the climate is relatively mild, the rainfall is insufficient, and the Dahongpao tea leaves picked are relatively dry and old. Tea trees have been harvested in spring tea and summer tea, and the nutrition of tea leaves is lacking, so not only the taste of tea is weak, but also the aroma is not good, and the leaf color is yellow.

In the previous GB18745-2002 standard, it was distinguished from three aspects: variety, famous fir and product, and the variety classification included: narcissus, cinnamon, Wuyi vegetable tea, bantam oolong, etc.; The classification of famous fir includes: Da Hong Pao, Iron Arhat, White Rooster Comb, Water Golden Turtle, Half Heavenly Waist, Beidou, etc.; The product category also includes five types: Da Hong Pao, Ming Fir, Cinnamon, Narcissus, and Strange Species.
